Dr. Donovan Lewis II

Clinical Psychologist - Mentor

“We live in a time where systemic forces of racism and oppression hover over the lives of men worldwide, and if we don’t allow ourselves the chance to heal through therapy, we will never be able to put the pieces back together again!”

About Dr. Donovan Lewis II, Psy.D.
Psychotherapy, for me, is not just a profession—it’s a purpose shaped by legacy. As the proud son of a decorated U.S. Marine who completed three tours in Vietnam, I was raised with a profound respect for service, sacrifice, and the invisible wounds that follow our heroes home. I’ve been surrounded by military culture my entire life, and I’ve seen how trauma often lingers quietly in Black and Latino military families, often unspoken, yet deeply felt. That’s why my clinical practice is designed to support not just veterans, but also the children, spouses, and loved ones who carry their stories.

My approach to therapy is mission-driven and culturally attuned. I specialize in working with individuals—especially Men of Color—who are dealing with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, moral injury, and generational trauma. I help clients connect their lived experiences to their emotional health, and empower them to rewrite the narrative of pain into one of healing and reclamation.

My Approach
Therapy is a journey—one that requires trust, vulnerability, and the courage to face yourself. I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative and evolving process. I draw from a variety of evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to help my clients improve mood, increase clarity, and uncover the strength that’s already within them. For many men of color, particularly those with military ties, strength has often meant silence. In our work together, we redefine strength as emotional honesty, radical self-care, and the audacity to heal.

I offer a safe, structured, and culturally aware environment where we can unpack not just symptoms—but systems. From family expectations and fatherhood to career stress, racial trauma, and intergenerational wounds, we tackle the layers that shape who you are and who you want to become.

Why BroKin™ Matters
Partnering with Dr. Ifeanyi Ufondu and BroKin™ Mental Health Solutions has been one of the most transformative chapters of my career. At a time when so many of our brothers are silently suffering under the weight of trauma, racism, toxic masculinity, and cultural expectations, BroKin™ stands as a sanctuary for truth, healing, and unapologetic emotional freedom.

Together, we are creating a culturally competent space where all men can confront their mental health challenges without fear or shame. It’s not just therapy—it’s liberation.

Personal Life
I live in Washington, D.C. with my wife of 8 years, Jasmine, and our son Miles. I’m a father, a son of a Marine, and a therapist devoted to helping men return to themselves—stronger, softer, and whole.
